Tattoo trend question

I am planning one with words. From Harry Potter -I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

I just really like it.

I kind of follow tattoo trends. I just find it interesting, and amusing.

Remember the Keep on Truckin tattoos from the 70’s:D

Remember the 80’s tribal tattoos

The 90’s barbed wire/circle things around the upper arms :smack:

Who will ever forget the tramp stamp. I believe if there is still a world thousands of years from now, scholars will be analyzing the tramp stamp trend.

As for the written ones, they are kind of new. Definitely the new trend for this decade. I was actually thinking of maybe getting one.

My niece has one across her chest that is in pretty cursive, from a song by Adam Levine. It reads : The sunset also sets in paradise

I am just so happy that they now have ways of removing tattoos.

Yeah, well, that tattoo removal still leaves you with a scar. You won’t get pristine skin back. People should be made aware of that. I’ve known several people so unhappy with the results of removal that they got a new tattoo on top of it, which is of course a perfectly legitimate thing to do.

I honestly do not know much about new tattoo removal. I have heard that lasering it off hurts really, really bad, and takes a long time. Also, they usually need to do it a little at a time, so who knows how long you would need to keep going back for. I also have heard some colors just cannot be removed. I forget which colors.

In the past I have known people who have used different, crude methods to remove a tattoo. My sister had her boyfriends name tattood on the back of her shoulder, when she was 14 years old (or 13 years old, I forget). My Mom, and the courts (long story) had it surgically removed. It was pretty cool how they did it. They just literally cut the tattoo out, stretched the skin and then stapled it together, or something to that effect, and now all she has there is a nasty scar.

By 2030, the “2010s scripty cursive chest tat” will have assumed its place in the pantheon of decade styles. :stuck_out_tongue:

The “tramp stamp” thing is unfortunate, because the name (and some of the lame stuff people have chosen to get tattooed there) have stigmatized what would otherwise be a pretty cool place to get a tattoo.

I have another beautiful niece, I believe she is now 22 years old. She is one of the nicest, sweetest, kindest person you could ever know.

She has both her armpits tattood with big flowers.

She has a huge clown holding a balloon on her side (torso).

She has tattoos on her feet. She has a LOT of tattoos.

I love her so much, I just do not understand it. Live and let live, I guess

Yep! Only thing allowed there is, “Bishop of Leicester”.

The sunset also sets? Ouch.

I thought that about the sagging pants thing. I think droopy britches started in the early 90’s, so don’t hold your breath.

Post pic please. :p:eek:

I will try to find one. She is such a sweet girl too. I am not sure if she ever posted one good picture of the whole thing, but I will check.

She has a couple of tattoos that I actually like. I would have liked the script tattoo if it was in a more private area, which could be easily covered. She has one I really like on the inside of her wrist. It is just a simple design she made. It is a combination of a musical note and peace sign (I think). I really like that one.

When my Mom died last November, she had a tattoo put on her back shoulder area of a small teacup. She was close to my Mom, and my Mom was obsessed with tea all her life. It may sound tacky, but whoever did the tattoo pulled it off. It is a really pretty fancy china cup.

Not quite the same thing, but back in West Texas in the 1970s, I knew a girl who had “Rum” tattooed on one breast and “Coke” on the other. Really.

I have a script tattoo around my left wrist and it’s been there since 2007. It’s my brother’s handwriting of my favorite quote of all time… “All at once is what eternity is” by Kenneth Patchen. I got it the night before he died in the hopes he could see it first, but sadly that didn’t happen. :’( And because his writing was thick and heavy, it’s smeared with time. Regardless, it’s my absolute favorite tattoo and just like I’d hoped, every single time I look at it, I think of him.

It’s popular as well for women to have sleeve tattoos along with writing on their stomach and chests. I don’t have any tattoos put I quite like admiring other peoples.

I thought the same thing. That’s just painful.

I mostly agree. I do have one very small tattoo (the Japanese kanji for “laugh”) on the inside of my left wrist. It’s easily covered by my watch or a wide bracelet. It reminds me not to take myself too seriously, so I doubt I’ll ever regret getting it.
