The thing to take away from this, Brendon is that it’s yours. Other folks will have varying opinions, but if you’re happy with it, that’s all that really matters.
How badly did it hurt? Did you sit up the whole time, and did you feel woozy at all? I like how crisp and clean yours looks. Did the lines or the “filling” hurt more, if there was a difference?
Shading hurt more for me. It all hurt, but it’s tolerable, and after 10 minutes or so, you…well, you don’t get USED to it, but it’s easier to deal with. Eat beforehand.

I’ve spent maybe 5 hours total under the gun between all of my tattoos. None of them were really painful, but the ones that gave me the most discomfort are the ones on my ankles just above my feet. I’d liken the sensation to being scratched by someone with long fingernails over a very bad sunburn. It’s not horribly painful, but certianly not pleasant.
