I got my first tattoo today!!!

Today I, LVgeogeek, got my first tattoo!! (The pic was taken about 4 hours after it was done)

It was quite an experience, well, actually more of a rush. It didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would.

I went earlier this week an met with the artist, who came highly recommended by several people I know, for my design consultation. Since a tattoo is forever, I wanted to see in advance a few days or so what he could do for me, and give me time to think about how I liked it… if I wanted changes etc…

So today after work my sister in law and I went downtown to the tattoo parlor. The artist and I did a size check to make sure it was the right size, make sure I was completely happy. Which I was.

Then it was time. I was so excited and nervous. A little less than 1.5 hours, my first tattoo was complete!!

Now I see how they can become addictive

Congratulations! And I love that design!

Oh, wow.

That is really, really, reallyreallyreally cute. I love it. Nice. Sweet. Etc.

Agreed…very nice design. Congrats!

I like it. They’re creepy.

I recently got a picture of mine. It’s not the best pic, but I love my tattoo.

Great tattoo! And yes - they are addictive. That’s why I have a legpiece - I can work on it for the rest of my life.

I really like that design. It’s so cute! I just got my sixth tattoo a couple of months ago! They are addicting! I’ll have to try to get them up on a website sometime to show them off. Love yours though. Welcome to the club.

I like your tattoo FilmGeek. It reminds me of those Volkswagen farfegnugen ad characters and their quirky spin offs. Really cute.

Snakescatlady and OhFace post pics of your tattoos. i wanna see

We should make a show your tattoo thread.

Something to consider:

Those who are skilled at applying tattoos can make decent money. Those who are skilled at removing them make serious bucks.

:dubious: Let me guess, you think that at least one poster in this thread will want to get rid of their tattoo at some point in the future? Maybe you don’t really approve of the concept of tattoos as well? How about you consider this point? It’s their body, and their business. If you don’t want a tattoo, fine, that’s your business. However let those who do want tattoos, and are happy to have them be. I don’t have a tattoo, I might one day. One of the reasons I don’t, is that I have had allergic reactions to clothing dyes in the past, which makes me leery of getting dye put under my skin.

I was terrified that getting a tattoo would hurt worse than anything. After all, I had heard all of the horror stories of people passing out and bleeding and on and on.

But yeah, it didn’t hurt. The first tattoo I think I flinched once (when he was going over the bone). The other tattoo didn’t hurt at all.

Oh yeah and here are my lame, totally unoriginal tattoos that make me smile on a daily basis  (the butterfly needs to be fixed, in time!).

DiosaBellissima your tats aren’t lame. They are very pretty and if they make you happy they are absolutly in no way lame.

Xema here is something for you to consider.

I had waited ten years to get my tattoo. I wanted to be absolutly sure this is what I wanted. I am also nearly 30, married and have a great job doing what I love (geologist). This was not an impulse act of just picking a peice of flash off the wall in a tattoo parlor.

As Zabali_Clawbane said, maybe you don’t approve of the concept of a tattoo, the idea that something will be with you forever. It is a big BIG commitment and all people that get tattoos do not do it with a wild hair up their arse.

But then again, opinions are like buttholes… everyone has one.

Now that that is out of the way… MORE TAT PICS… on with the show

Everyone - make sure you sunscreen your tattoos - they will fade if you don’t.

AH! LVgeogeek! That’s almost exactly the same design I’ve been considering! But I’ve only been thinking of it for nine years. :smack: :stuck_out_tongue: Also, I have other designs in mind, some are similar, like two black panthers with their tails intertwined in the same position, but looking more… panther-y. Are you a Gemini, too? That’s where I first saw it, in unique zodiac symbol patterns.

Seriously, though, very cool, and it looks so nice. Congrats and enjoy!

I’ve also been thinking of a big black panther, wrapped around my ankle with his tail wrapped around my calf. Might be a bit much, though. My husband and I are slowly coming into money and my styles at formal events might be limited to dress pants and longer dresses. (Ahhhh, who cares? Maybe I’ll rock a few worlds  )

Anastasaeon, I am a Gemni

I wanted a gemini tattoo, but could it be a more boring symbol II :stuck_out_tongue:

So, I thought for years what a good design would be that was an interpertation of a gemini symbol.

Nice tattoo, LVgeogeek. I also like FilmGeek’s.

Since we’re showing…

Based on knowing more than a few people with tattoos who came to feel this way, I’d say it’s a distinct possibility.

And then again, maybe I endorse the view that adults should be free to do as they please.

I do think they’d do well to consider the long- as well as the short-term implications (a view that several of my friends have expressed).

I hate tats, and think they are stupid, but the OP’s tat is cute! Since I have actually met LVgeogeek, I can say “Good job!” Where exactly is it? I can’t tell from the pic.

silenus, it is on the outside of my right leg, about 2 inches above the ankle. Looking at the picture, it does seem a bit obscure as to where it is.

I hit submit before I could say that I really like that M.C. Escher inspired tattoo Erinaceus.
