I did all the figuring about two weeks ago. But I waited until this weekend to fill in the paperwork in ink and I didn’t put it in the mail until this afternoon.
Paid mine at 5 PM today. No refund but did pay a truly vast sum in taxes owed for 2011.
Request for extension to file, filed electronically at 11:58 pm on April 17. Whew!
According to one free-file tax service, I owe the federal government around $1.6K and the state about $3.0 K. According to another, I owe the feds about $1K and the state around $1.6K.
So I figured I’d file the extension and figure it out over the next several months. Truly a triumph of planning and organization.
Two whole hours to spare!
I love e-filing.
I don’t have to file for another two months. You get an automatic extension for living abroad.
I did mine a few weeks ago. I don’t do E-file. No real reason, just still like the paper in hand approach. Besides, I owe, so no rush.
I live with a broad.
E-filed mine at 930 last night and getting about $1500 back.

Never attribute to reason what may simply be basic procrastination.
I filed mine yesterday afternoon via snail mail. I told the USPS person that once it was post marked, they could mail it as slowly as they pleased. As far as I’m concerned, the government can wait a while to cash my check
