I’ll admit, my go-to tea for caffeine loading with milk and sugar is Tetley British Blend. I use 4 bags in 3 cups of water.
Wow! The prices you guys pay for tea are insane! I buy most of my herbs from herbalcom.com. The site looks like crap, but the products are fresh.
These are their prices:
Tea, Darjeeling, TGBOP
Camellia sinensis India 1 pound $9.20
Tea, Earl Grey, OP
Camellia sinensis, Blend China 1 pound $8.00
Tea, English Breakfast, Ceylon B
Camellia sinensis, Blend China 1 pound $7.55
Tea, Green, tea cut
Camellia sinensis China 1 pound $4.80
Tea, Irish Breakfast, Assam
Camellia sinensis, Blend China 1 pound $7.75
Tea, Jasmine, tea cut
Camellia sinensis China 1 pound $5.85
Tea, Oolong, tea cut
Camellia sinensis China 1 pound $5.80
I also get raspberry leaf, a couple different mints, and several other herbs (like chamomile flower heads, cinnamon, ginger, etc) that I throw into teas according to my mood. You have to order by the pound, but I put them all in canisters near my stove and just throw in pinches of what ever I’m in the mood for.
Here is a link, if it doesn’t come up to it, look under products and ordering header. Like I said, the website looks like crap, but they ship quick and I’ve never had any problems with any of their products.
You might as well let your guests drink right from the toilet!
La la la, I’m not listening!
Twining’s Irish Breakfast.
another vote for the smokey flavor of Lapsang souchong as something different. It’s my go to drink when the day sucks and I want to watch an old movie in peace. Otherwise I drink a breakfast tea.
I love Yorkshire Gold tea. Especially with a splash of milk and sugar.
Isnt Builders Tea a strong straightforward black tea in UK? Altho it has a connotation for being used by yuppies-pretending-to-be-commoners Ive read:
I personally love MightyLeaf Bleu Peacock but it might be too “flowery” for you since its oolong mixed with jasmine flowers and bergamot. It breaks down to about $0.50/cup when I get the loose leaf:

I like this loose leaf brewing mug too. Keeps it hot for hours:

Dang it, I blame those #$@* Sons of Liberty and their little trick of throwing tea into the ocean. Americans haven’t known a good cup of tea since!
Somehow I find vacuum insulated mugs to be magical. Liquids stays hot in them for at least half a day. My brain knows how it works but it still makes me giddy. I’m a dork.
The Irish drink more tea than the British, you should be asking them about quality! From my experience with British friends, frankly, they drink a lot of crap tea. Most never bother to wander beyond basic PG Tips and the like so they don’t even know what a great tea tastes like.
I’ve noticed that as well. I worked with a bunch of Brits in my last job, and tea is so ubiquitous that I think that it is similar to Americans who think that you can get a good cup of coffee at Perkins or go buy a big can of Folgers. You find British tea snobs, but it is far from universal.
They do seem to be pickier about their beer.
But… but you can get a good cup of coffee at Perkins!
I should not even be participating in this thread, should I?
I like Monterey Bay Spice company at www.herbco.com
I buy bulk teabags from them, a one pound bag has about 200 teabags and costs anywhere from 6-12 bucks depending on the type of tea.
Glengettie tea. A very strong and delicious Welsh tea.
Tetley, tedle edly ee
Tea bags
Lovely as can be
Tetley make teabags
Tetley make teabags make teeeeeea
Just had to get that out otherwise I’ll be singing it for weeks.
You, ma’am, are a Philistine. =P
Ah…then you wouldn’t like Jasmine. (I’m not sure if it has any black tea in it or not). I’ll third or 8th, Red Rose. And whatever that spicy market spice type is.
So the Tea Forte tea arrived today and I cracked open the box I bought for myself - white ginger pear. Its certainly NOT what saje is looking for, but its a completely indulgent treat (and at $1 an infuser, it should be. This isn’t Lipton). It smells so good (tastes good too).
Try Bigelow tea.
I order from iherb, and they are located in CA. They have a great selection of teas, although they are mostly organic. They give discounts for ordering larger amounts of items. They carry many, many other products as well, in addition to tea. Speaking for myself, I try to vary my tea, as I get tired of drinking the same thing all of the time. I really like dandelion tea, but I have it later in the day, as there is no caffeine in it, unless you don’t want caffeine in the morning.
