I’ve got it narrowed down to the Siemens mid-range (4015) or the GE 379GE3. Both are about the same price through Best Buy, and seem to have roughly the same features (memory, caller ID, flash, etc). I’ve just retired a Siemens 2415 after it stopped holding a charge and changing cells had no effect. (AND the f*ckers at Siemens said there was nothing they could do besides replace the handset at cost, even though it’s only eleven months old, grumble).
Anyone had experience with either of these? Or have ideas for another, more reliable one? I’d like to spend USD 100 or less, and we’re shipping out to Sri Lanka in March, so I’m not looking for the uber-phone here. Opinions appreciated.
i’ve had positive experiences with panasonic cordless phones, though i haven’t yet tried out their 2.4Ghz range.
My current Panasonic cordless KXTC-1891b (900Mhz) is performing extremely well, has caller id, 2 line answering machine with separate messages option, different ringers, remote message pick-up, headset jack so i can use the cordless handsfree while working on my comp, light, extremely good looking, and reasonably priced.
I’ve got the GE 27930GE3-B. I bought it on sale at Target last year for about $50, and it works great. It has caller ID, message waiting flash - no memory though. I think I’ve had it about a year, though it may be closer to 9 months (but it was definitely November or earlier). It’s got a good range and calls tend to be clear.
Another vote for Panasonic. I had a Panasonic 900 Mhz phone which lasted for over five years which met an early death due to a new puppy in the house. I replaced it with a with a 2.4 GHz Panasonic and I am very happy with it.
