Ted Lasso on Apple TV {Returns March 15, 2023}

It was the restauranter. I think enough time has passed that she would know if he knocked her up.

I believe the psychic was predicting that they’d get back together but he seems to be becoming interested in his business partner now.

Yes, Sam Obisanya was who Rebecca had the affair with last year. He is the owner of the Nigerian restaurant. Personally, I am waiting to find out what “a shite in nine-ing armor” is going to turn out to be.

Watching it last night, my wife recalled that she had said something about being “late.” I did not recall that.

Nitpick, but it wasn’t an “affair”; two unattached adults dated each other.

She just meant she was late to the appointment with the psychic.

Which set up a good joke something like:

“I knew you’d be late”

(Sarcastically) “Because you’re a psychic?”

“No. Because your mother told me all about you”

Jamie is (was?) a shite in a number 9 jersey.

I know something was said earlier about Rebecca having kids. Was she unable to have children or did they not have them because Rupert didn’t want them? I’m trying to put her anger towards the psychic in context.

Although it was a psychic so “family” might not have the meaning she thinks.

It will be interesting to see where the Colin story goes. They made sure to show that Trent was not above printing hurtful things about players in the past. They also mentioned in a previous season that Trent is gay. I think there will be some conflict but I don’t think there will be a heel turn.

Rebecca told Keeley last season that she had wanted to have children but Rupert didn’t. This made Rebecca particularly steamed when Rupert impregnated his new wife almost immediately after they go married.

I don’t think they’ve ever mentioned that. We don’t know for sure if Trent is gay. I think the only hint we have that he might be gay (outside of gaydar) is a scene in which we saw him about to leave the pub but he stopped and touched the man he was leaving with on the arm and the shoulder in a familiar way that seemed to show that they were intimates on at least some level. The dude he was with was rocking a handlebar mustache, so maybe that’s a hint he’s gay or maybe he’s the biggest Rollie Fingers fan in London.

Maybe, but that story on Roy would have been roughly 20 years ago when he was younger and looking to make a name for himself. He doesn’t seem that way now. I mean, his friendship with Ted was more important to him than his job. Then again, playing Leonard Cohen’s Everybody Knows as Trent discovers Colin and his boyfriend might not be a good sign.

Trent doing something like outing Colin would be pretty out of character at this point. I think it’s more likely that he privately talks to Colin about what he saw. He can offer support if Colin wants to come out, or just give advice that someone else could just as easily have seen.

This maybe my faulty memory playing tricks. I thought I remembered him making an offhand mention of his husband.

Someone in the comments section of the New York Times recap of the episode suggested one way this might play out. Perhaps Zava is unable to deal with having a gay teammate, so he says something homophobic or is aggressive towards Colin. The rest of the team stands behind Colin, and Zava is forced out. As a result, they lose the Premier Cup.

Or as a result they win it.

Either way, the team chooses to stand behind Colin rather than Zava, even though he’s the star of the team. I could see this happening, though I kind of hope the writers are more clever than that.

I think that they are setting up some kind of situation where the team stands together against Zava whether it’s Colin or Jamie or something else. The team learns a lesson and then Zava does too.

Of course, with all this discussion, it’d be super amusing if they just had Zava getting more and more integrated into the team and a contributing member of it  .

That might be better, because the first season already covered the question of a difficult teammate (Jamie, and how long it took for him to be not an asshole).

Hell, they could end with the season going down to the last match and Zava gives up a consequential penalty to Jamie, because “he’s earned it”. Ted is then hailed for being the only manager who made Zava a team player.

Trent once made a quick mention of his father. When he got fired and Ted said this makes him, “Trent Crimm, independent,” he says “My father made the same joke.” Maybe that’s where the wires got crossed.
