Oooh Ode to Billie Joe. If nothing ever comes to no good up on Chactow Ridge, does that mean that only good things happen up there?
Acupola things. Firstly, the guys most famous for You Sexy Thing, Hot Chocolate, has this tearjerker, Emma which I think may have be covered by a rock band.
Secondly, whenever somebody mentions the song Patches, I think of a totally different overwrought song. No teens die in it though, so I was scratching my head for a while over its inclusion in this thread.
Don’t forget “Rocky” by Dickie Lee. Not exactly a teenage death song since the passing occurs after a marriage and the birth of a child, but it does include the immortal lyric:
Quite a few of the songs in the Teen Tragedy wiki are not really specifically about teens. “Green, Green Grass of Home” is about a convict on death row, unlikely to be teenaged. I can’t be bothered to look up the English lyrics to “Seasons in the Sun,” but the original Brel lyrics were about a married man. James in “1952 Vincent Black Lightning” mentions his age as 21.
No, a soldier sent home to be buried.
I think Biffy is correct.
Another “always missed”:
Dead Man’s Curve
The XKE didn’t make it.
And no, Jan Berry’s fatal* crash did NOT occur at the curve.
-
- it took something like 38 years, but, yes, his death was the result of the crash.
Listen to the lyrics and tell me I’m wrong.
“Then I awake and look around me, at the four grey walls that surround me
and I realize, yes, I was only dreaming.
For there’s a guard and there’s a sad old padre -
arm in arm we’ll walk at daybreak.”
You’re Wrong.
I’ve known that song for 30+ years.
I did before I posted just to make sure the lyrics I’ve known for 40 years were correct.
Condition Red by the Goodees, a little known but entertaining ripoff of* Leader of the Pack*.
HEY, there’s a car! WATCH OUT FOR THE CAR!!!
