So, I’m doing some writing set in a high school in Los Angeles, 2010, and I recognize that my own high school experience (some 30 years previous to that) is really outdated. So, I look to the hivemind to help me with authenticity.

Specifically I’m looking for:
-Put-downs / insults and other slang, as well as complimentary terms
-Who were considered celebrities / / hearthrobs / idols / people kids would aspire to be like or want to meet / date
-Things high school kids did for fun
-What a typical school day would be like.

If anyone has personal anecdotes of interesting things from that age group / time period, so much the better!

I think this board skews too old for your question… heck, my kids were in their 20s by then.
