"Teen Titans"--How's it doin'?

The new Teen Titans show on Cartoon Network…how’s it doing?

Do you think it’s good?

Will there be a second season?

Links to screengrabs?

I like it, for what it’s worth. I know a lot of people detest the animation and the sight gags, but they don’t bother me (although I can totally see why others hate the whole thing).

There will be a second season. I read an article about it over at Toonzone or something a few days ago. There’ll be more Titans showing up.

I like it a lot. It’s so anime that they even occasionally do the theme song in Japanese. I love the song in both languages.

I hope it stays around for a long while.

They always do the theme song in Japanese. It is performed by the super-cute Japanese girl group Puffy AmiYumi.

No, the theme song is occasionally in English.

And personally, I think the over-the-top animesque expressions are danged annoying.

I’ve watched everyone and it’s only rarely in Japanese. According to TV tome it’s in episodes 6, 8 and 10 out of the 13 they’ve made so far. Also they say that the next season starts January 10th with episode 14. They give a source in their news section.

Whoa! Actually they say it’s been renewed for 4 seasons. I didn’t know they did that.

OK, I stand corrected! But I’ve only seen it once, to be honest. I just like the song.

It’s a lot cutesier than most of the anime I watch. I hated it at first, but I’ve given it a few more chances and it’s grown on me a bit. It’s still too cute at times, but I like some of the characterization, especially Robin.

Shouldn’t a show called Teen Titans have characters who look like they’re at least 11?

the anime stuff is nonsense. I hate it. its like “HEY! WE ARE ANIME! SERIOUSLY”. once you get past the sweat drops and stuff, the show isn’t half bad. some of the episodes are even fairly outstanding. It does a really good job of makeing most of the charactors interesting (although I dislike every single story about gothy mcgoth goth)

I imagine it’s some kind of strange polarity reversal from the comic books where the characters are perpetually drawn in their mid-twenties.

The characters that you see in the Titans cartoon are in their 20’s in the comic books, and have been since the early nineties, when “Teen” was dropped from the comic’s title. The current crop of Teen Titans are drawn as being in their teens, and are supervised by the remaining adult Titans (Cyborg, Starfire, and Beast Boy, who may still be in his late teens).

And you can put me down as another who dislikes the show. The style of Anime is derived from Manga, which has an entirely different set of stylistic conventions from American comics. The clash of styles seems jarring to my eye, so much so that it greatly interferes with my ability to connect with the show.

I dunno, I like the show, even with the anime styling.

Maybe that’s because I’ve become so horribly disillusioned with American animation in recent years that I need to see a foreign animation style before I can even take a cartoon seriously these days.

I love Teen Titans. I probably wouldn’t even bother with it if it weren’t done in that funky anime style. It’s what makes the show.

I introduced my friends to the show, and early in the show, Starfire got angry and did that “giant yelling head” thing. Later on, when she was in a tight spot, one of my friends turned to me and said, “Why doesn’t she just change size again?”

Nah, they’ve been that way since at least the early-mid-80’s (couldn’t I just say ‘roughly 83’ and be done with it? Would’t it be less work to type?) when I started reading the book.

In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that in the comics I’ve never seen Cyborg, Raven or Starfire depicted anywhere close to their teens. Dick too, has been drawn as an adult pretty much from the very moment he put on the original Nightwing suit.

I do recall a time when Wally, Donna, Roy and Dick were all drawn as actual “kids” but again my notoriously gap-filled memory seems to have them jumping Athena-style right into adulthood with the first issue of New Teen Titans (and the awesome Perez artwork).

This site here seems to confirm my suspicions. Though the picture quality is poor.

It’s what makes the show crappy, IMO.

I wish they had a Wonder Girl on Teen Titans.

Next year, more Titans!
Terra arrives!

“Warp”?
Warp is a bad guy, one of the new Brotherhood of Evil. He’s a french guy with a really, really, really bad costume who can create what amount to portable holes that teleport people. He never really uses his power to it’s full potential.
