Teen Titans question: Beast Boy

OK, I’ve been watching, off and on, the CN Teen Titans series (partly because I have a 10 year old son and partly because I was a comics geek back in the day). I have to admit, I am enjoying the show (except for the Anime style animation. I keep expecting a tentacle monster to show up and fuck Raven in every orifice.), but one thing confuses me.

Beast Boy. Where did this name come from? I remember the character, but he was always called “Changeling”. Beat Boy? BEAST BOY? Changeling was cool. Beast Boy sounds like a circus side show freak(as indeed he was in the future shown in this season’s premier). Where did Beast Boy come from, and why?

The character was introduced in the '60s title Doom Patrol. He had his name changed to uh … Changeling when the Teen Titans relaunched in the New Teen Titans comic in the early '80s.

I’m sure there’s a not-negligible segment of the audience that has the same instinctive reaction but would consider paying for a Director’s Cut that actually had that  :o

No, I only kid you… anyone can tell it’s obviously Terra who’s the prime candidate to get herself urotsukidojied   :stuck_out_tongue:

…by Raven.

Hey, she is half-demon, and she goes all shape-shifty when she gets really pissed. I’ll bet she’s got a few tentacles under that robe somewhere.

…not that I spend a lot of time thinking about it, or anything.

Hey, look over there! William Shatner!

Thanks, ussentinel, that was almost more information than I could process, but it answered the question perfectly.
