Yep, I joined back in the AOL days when I was about 14 (1997ish), but had to sit out all the paid years.

Yes, I joined as a teenager before the paid years. This thread leads me to realize that I’ve been reading this board for half my life.

i don’t know about that. i’ve seen teh age 14 even back when he was still going by curtis lemay.

*i’m not saying he’s a sociopath… just a quirk that i’ve noticed and it doesn’t keep me up at night.

i read the columns when i was a teenager and stayed off the boards because i thought: “hey. randos with opinions? i’ll get my dope from cecil thank you very much.”

then i revisited it when i was 21-22ish and fell in love and i virtually never read the articles anymore and i get most of my op/ed from the SDMB.

I’d like some evidence of claims that he’s always presented himself as 14. My recollection is that he was 13 when he joined and has aged appropriately as time passed.

Yeah, I distinctly remember being surprised when Curtis changed his name and casually dropped the fact that he was 14, because of all the times before that he casually mentioned he was 13.
