I agree, people who wear MAGA hats are as douchey as Jersey reality stars. What an excellent comparison!
The kids that will do more to MAGA would be more likely to be found under a STEM hat.
STEAM, including arts, might be even more progressive but I think it would get you dismissed as a pc gamer.
wat
I would have been that kid at that age, and I assure you that being confronted about it would have been my goal.
And what would your reaction be, if a bunch of old white guys, rather than confronting you about it, commended you on it?
Never had the pleasure of watching the show, but I’d enthusiastically support a Snooki/Situation ticket against that of a certain other vacuous has-been reality TV personality.
now that would be a royal visit worth watching.
I bet Queen E can toss a table half across the room.
You are funny:D I was cammo under my cameos!
Probably also would have liked it. The point was to be different from my peers, and showing how edgy I was by being different from other teenagers would have been confirmed by being supported by another generation who also tend to hate teenagers.
I tend to cut teenagers slack on shit like this. I’m horribly embarrassed by 16 year old me, as I’m sure many of us are. Just roll your eyes and go on with your day if you see this stuff.
Trump isn’t a mass murderer? What are the drone strikes, then?
Yes, that means GWB and Obama were mass murderers, too. If there isn’t a political exception for Ché, and I don’t suppose there should be, there isn’t one for a head of government already in power.
Drone strikes on poor brown people are not mass murder. Where you been?
I did, until someone paid me a ton of money to stop.
This is the actual flag code.
https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCODE-2011-title4/html/USCODE-2011-title4-chap1.htm
It applies to flags. Not things with flags on them.
The American Legion devoted a page to it:
*Question:
Is it permissible to wear an item of clothing that looks like the United States flag?
Answer:
Unless an article of clothing is made from an actual United States flag, there is NO breach of flag etiquette whatsoever. People are simply expressing their patriotism and love of country by wearing an article of clothing that happens to be red, white, and blue with stars and stripes. There is nothing illegal about the wearing or use of these items.*
It could be worse. It’s better than vaping and scratching their zits.
They probably think it’s a fun way to drive certain adults up the wall. Or maybe it accurately reflects their politics. :smack:
Huh, seems a fine hair to split. IMHO, the flag is a symbol, so a symbol of a flag is a flag, but sure, I can respect their opinion on the matter, even if I personally do not feel that it would be respectful for me to be rubbing my junk against Old Glory.
ETA: And they didn’t really “devote a page” to it, what you quoted was literally the entirety of it. A reference to the relevant parts of the flag code and a reasoning as to why a representation of a flag is not considered a flag would show more “devotion”.
Gotta admit Che has cool looking hair in that iconic photo.
I definitely could have worn a Che shirt back in the day, simply because I had no idea who he was. I didn’t even know who the guy on the shirt was, so I wouldn’t have been able to look him up. And I would have only heard anything about him from someone wearing the shirt, since I wouldn’t have known there was anyone else to ask.
I accept that many kids may not know what the MAGA message means. But I don’t think they could be that far removed from it. Not given how recent it is.
I do think it could be a rebel or trolling thing, and they’ve not really given any thought beyond that. If their parents, say, are anti-Trump, I could see them wearing them. Or if they’ve been taught that liberals are evil, I could see them enjoying wearing something that pisses off the liberals.
It could also be the opposite, that they feel pressured to be Trump supporters. And other explanations. I’m not going to make assumptions without more information.
But I will likely be more suspicious if I need to interact with them. That’s just the nature of the beast.
So I guess it would not violate flag code if I printed up flag toilet paper, it would only violate taste standards. Makes sense I guess, but I have always been annoyed with people draping the US flag over their body parts.
The important take away is that it is not against flag code to wear the rebel flag as swimwear.
Nobody decent gives a flying fuck about “proper treatment” of any flag used by the confederacy.
