Teeth whitening: which methods have you tried?

Does anybody know if raw carrots tend to stain teeth? I have eating more lately as a replacements for high calorie snacks, but I wonder if they are staining my teeth.

I have tetracycline stains as well. I’ve tried the trays with bleach from the dentist (several times), and Crest White strips. Both worked well for coffee/cigarette staining but obviously didn’t touch the tetracycline stains (because the tetracycline stains are in the dentin, not on top in the enamel). The dentist and hygenist told me not to expect much with the ZOOM bleaching and said it might be really expensive and the payoff not so much worth it. So I’m interested to know that worked out well for you. I might just break down and try it if it really worked.

The dentist had told me beforehand that there was no guarantee that the process would work. My teeth aren’t that brilliant white that some people have, but there is a definite improvement. I have an old crown in back that was chosen to match my teeth’s pre-bleached color, and it definitely doesn’t match the rest of my teeth now.

Consumer Reports did a report on this back in 08’. One of the best whitening toothpastes also turns out to be one of the cheapest. Ultra Brite Advanced Whitening. I use it, it does work, and I saw noticeable results within a few brushings.

It’s also one of the cheapest at about 2 bucks (or less) a tube.

So maybe the crest strips for the quick improvement, and the ultra brite to maintain. As always, YMMV, IAMNAL or toothpaste salesperson.
