Tel me about Internet Radio

How do I get it? Can I get it free? Any particular recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

I use Live365. I believe it is free to signup and listen to the tons of different stations, though you may have to download their player software (or maybe not). I pay about 50 bucks a year to be a VIP member, which helps support the station I usually listen to.

I do it because I like a small genre of music which is not played on the regular radio stations.

Don’t count on it being around for long. In about a month, the Internet Radio Equality Act (H.R. 2060, S. 1353) will go into effect and essentially kill all but the biggest and most profitable stations. It’s quite a shame, as I’ll miss Pandora and di.fm.

You can check out Shoutcast. Their stations work with Winamp, Windows Media Player, and various other players and they have thousands of stations.

Shoutcast does indeed rock.
I hope this dumbass bill gets countered by some common sense.

I heartily recommend Pandora.

And SaveNetRadio. :frowning:

The Internet Radio Equality Act is was might save internet radio. It was made in response to the rate increase that will kill internet radio. (You probably read your cite a little too quickly  )

Oh, and another vote for Pandora, it’s freaking great.

Seriously there are simply tons of free internet radio shows out there to listen to. Some of them actually worth your time. Dont get roped into paying for some service that puts them all together for you. Just take the time to search the internet and find the ones that hit your personal interests. It can be fun and entertaining.

Texas radio, yee-haw.

Um … yeah. That’s what I meant. It was a typo. A really long typo.

Either way I really hope the copyright board doesn’t get away with this crap. The very idea that net radio should be slammed for fees that terrestrial radio stations are not obligated to pay is absurd. But that’s another thread.

Funny thing, I haven’t seen anything on Last.fm about it (or maybe I haven’t looked in the right places). Is Last.fm planning on staying on the air after June 15th?

Last.fm is based in the UK, so is unaffected…
