Telemarketeing industry falling silent on Sept. 11

The story says it all.

Sept. 11 is a day for people to be with their families, said Perry Young, director of a telemarketing center in Omaha run by Call Solutions Inc. of Waukesha, Wis.

“If I received a call at home on that day from somebody trying to sell me something, I would be personally offended,” Young said.

Let’s see if that really happens.

That’s great, until their competition says, “Hey, those other guys won’t be calling AT ALL!” and doubles their staffing.

They’ll probably just double up when they come back to make up for the one day.

It’s a PR move and a token gesture. Telemarketing is still horrible, to hell with them.

Ha - they’re doubling up today. It’s only 9:50 AM here, I’ve already had 2 “out of area” (always telemarketers) calls. Good thing I never pick up out of area calls. I just hang up.
