Here is a very interesting tip for fooling those recorded telemarketing messages into logging your number as not being valid, so it is not called again by them or sold by them to additional companies.
I would love to hear how it works out, if any of you try it. I can’t really because I use my home line for business and so unfortunately have to answer all calls (even “unavailable” and “private”), just in case.
And Snooooopy, hope this doesn’t offend you as a new telemarketer. It addresses a different telemarketing method than yours, anyway. And I’ll steel myself for any flames from telemarketing firm owners who use this technology.
I wondered about the Telezapper thing, but seemed to recall that in the commercial for it the person had already answered (remember, he corrects the telemarketer’s pronunciation of his name I think?). But, either way, this one’s still free!
TO THOSE READING THIS SUGGESTION:
As it may take awhile before you actually get around to implementing this strategy, please express something here now, such as ok, maybe/your thoughts on feasibility/or just a solitary slash or something. If it turns out to be a very useful tool, I’d hate for the masses to miss out because of the low “reply” number on the main page. I mean, this isn’t really something anyone will be able to comment on until they use it!
Can’t find a cite for it at the moment (did I read it in a previous thread on this board?), but you don’t actually need all three of those tones. The first one, by itself, will do the trick.
And FYI, I’d imagine the Powers That Be frown mightily upon thread bumping. So replying with slashes, ^, or TTT will probably result in much smackage being layed down.
So then, even if you’ve already answered, can you play that tone and eradicate yourself from their screen?
I’ll tell ya, I’ve realized several times after doing something here that it’s technically outside of procedure, or my board behavior understanding went up incrementally in some way that made me regret something (for example, duh! Asking people to somehow mark their view in this thread, is probably asking to end up looking stoooopid!). Maybe there is something here somewhere that I should have read and didn’t? A lot of the terminology used, I don’t get! e.g., “bump.” I think, as usual, I get that now through trial and error! Aaaah, the irritation of newbies! :smack:
And ** Snooooopy**, I thought this technology would only apply to auto-dialing, recorded sales pitch computer telemarketing. Although my general telemarketing sentiments may have become apparent here, I would never want to discourage an individual in their work! Sorry. (I know, the owners of these telemarketing computers are people too, etc. etc…can’t please everyone I guess!)
