Telephone System Administrators - Help!

NEC Dterm Series E

I am having a problem with one of these Phones. My line has somehow been set to be “automatic Intercom”. How to do this, is badly explained on page 15 of the User Guide.

The problem is that there are no instructions on how to un-do this feature. It has also disabled my voice mail for both internal and external calls.

My tech is pretty hopeless at trying to figure this out; I retrieved the user guide from his trash.

I have tried to replace the actual telephone with a spare unit, and that prooved to be of no help.

I have googled, and there seems to be a lot of marketing information, but no real trouble shooting assistance. I am currently on hold to NEC to try to get an answer out of them.

Any Dopers have any ideas on how to solve this problem?
(I’ve already thought of the solition that starts with "Get a BIG Hammer…)

Is Manual Intercom the opposite of Automatic Intercom? If so, then activating the one should disable the other, no? Instructions are found on page 24 of this PDF manual for the model 2400 terminal.

I hadn’t thought of this. Didnt work though.

NEC refused to help me any farther than to offer me a website where I could locate a dealer for their products.

On a positive note, It is finally annoying my boss that he cannot leave me voicemail, so I might get some action to get it fixed through our tech-ops dept.
Thanks again

Ok. Get a BIG hammer…
Never mind.
