I am having trouble figuring out how to travel to a different region. Is there some sort of region listing I can access?
When you say region, do you mean another solar system or a region of space using EVE’s terminology?
If the former, that ought to have been covered by a tutorial. Approach a jump gate and hit Jump when you’re within a certain range.
If the latter, there’s no real boundary between regions. Two solar systems can be connected to each other but be in separate regions. Check your map for which systems are where. (I highly recommend flattening the map to 2D, it makes it much easier to comprehend.)
The problem is the map always comes up to show the system. I’m not good at messing with the map yet. I can get from system to system, and I’ve travelled between two regions Sinq Liaison and Everyshore, but I cannot figure out how to move beyond that. I need to find a part for a perpetual motion device that is not in either region.
So I mean ‘region’ in the technical sense that it’s used in the game.
I figured it out.
Cool. There’s a lot of options in the map screen, so tweaking it to get it looking the way you want it to takes a bit of work.
Mswas, you don’t find that ingredient for the perpetual motion device, you use research to “invent” perpetual motion tier 2 and then build that.
It doesn’t exist.
Hence why you don’t find it. I didn’t think I needed to mention that part.
EVE Maps in easy to understand format.
Although that is almost certainly out of date now since with the last patch a new region came in as well as a few changes to jump gate links but overall shoud still do the trick and be helpful.
EDIT: Actually may be completely up-to-date…need to look at it some mroe to be sure
Maybe you should’ve said “you can’t find it anywhere.” Or that it’s a red herring.
Ahh ok, good to know that I won’t find it. I’ll get back there and invent it.
Ok, so is there any point in even completing that mission then? Research is expensive, and I don’t intend to follow a research track just yet.
You get some nice stuff for completing the tutorial line, I would recommend doing it, and it’s not that expensive.
Heh, it’s hard to look at your nut and think that 3/4 of it isn’t expensive. Alright, I’ll do it then.
Damn, I haven’t played the tutorial since 2006. They’ve got invention as part of it now?
Nifty.
Heh, so I just realized that the market regularly lies to you. I just took some Mexallon to sell in the like fourth or fifth highest priced buyer in the region. It says like, 1.4% below regional average, which really means that it’s 1.4% above the highest price in the region. I would’ve thought average means average, and not average means the highest possible price anyone is offering.
Have you checked the graphs/charts to see what the average price is? And, for that matter, what do you mean by ‘highest price in the region’? I assume you’re only talking buy orders? The average is the average price that the items sells for, which is a mix of all the sell orders that people pick up as well as all the buy orders that are filled.
Ahh ok, I guess I am just looking at the buy orders. How do you find the charts? I haven’t seen those.
Go to the market window for any specific item.
Click on the “price history” tab.
Select table/graph for your preferred method of viewing the data (I much prefer the table, as it’s easier to get specific numbers).
Choose how far back you want the data.
I was looking at contracts, but didn’t get into them yet. How do they work? I know I have to be within a certain proximity of the station to make a sale. Does that only matter as to when i setup the contract, or is it important for completion of the contract? I don’t have marketing yet.
