I was browsing the SD (the only other browser tab that I had open was a Google tab. Kaspersky told me that it had blocked “exploit.java.cve-2011-3544.k”
- What does this do? I.e. what did Kaspersky save me from?
- Did anyone else get this from the SD? I can’t prove whether it came through SD, but right now the chances seem high that it did.
Here’s some information on it: NVD - CVE-2011-3544
This may be the exploit that was patched in the latest version of Java: CNET: Product reviews, advice, how-tos and the latest news
It’s better to report these in ATMB.
This board has historically had a lot of problems with malware. It usually does not come from the SDMB servers themselves but instead through the advertising servers that the administrators of the SDMB have chosen to use. If you can get a screen capture of what ads were displayed at the time that is very helpful for them to track down which ad it came from.
You can become a registered user and not see advertising. Or you can use something like adblock to remove them as well.
