Yah! Thanks, ::smooch::
I really wish I could have gotten on this show as one of the norms. Of course, I would start out acting like normal, average guy, maybe a bit uptight to get on the show; then when the cameras started I would whip out my Elder Sign and start laughing manically about how The Stars Are Right, and how the power of those voodoo and wiccan people pale in comparison of The Great Old Ones.
I watched the first episode tonight. It looks like a fun show.
However, Don the Vampire left only one impression on me.
“So that’s what happened to Bevis from Bevis and Butt-head when he grew up.”
The voice, the face. It all screamed “Bevis!” to me.
Art was cool, as was Avacado.
As Wiccan, I am interested in how Fiona represents us. So far she seems a little tooo…Aw, I dunno. just a little Too.
The Voodoo Priestess looks like she’s practicing Voodoo Lite.
As for the contestants. I think I see where the producers and Alts are going with this. I don’t think this is meant totaly as a “Fear Factor” gross out. Also, it looks like the Alts aren’t really looking for someone that jives completely with their Alt-ness right from the start. I think the Alts are looking to change the people with the most pre-conceved notions about how people are supposed to be. The Republican Convent Dweller could win this if she re-examines herself and sees that all she has been taught before isn’t the end all of life.
I also like how they use one of the contestants as the tie breaker. Throws a little kink into the group dynamic. This show seems to be more about acceptance than division. I think the winner will be the one who learns to accept the differeces in not just the Alts but the other contestants as well.
What specifically gives you this impression?
Fiona is Fiona Horne. She’s written several books on Wicca. Seems to be a popularizer. You can check out hre website for an idea of how she might represent Wicca/Wiccans and whether you agree with it.
I’ve never thought I would do well on any reality show I’ve seen. Until now. I think I could ace this one.
I’ve talked with Wiccans who consider Fiona an entertaining spokesperson & others lean to terms like “tool” & “whore” for her. I’ve heard interviews with her on the radio in which she sounded totally vapid.
“Don” the Vampire, huh? Shoulda been named “Trevor”.
Btw, depending on the degree of the voodoo ritual, I may well not have felt safe in participating. Call it silly Christian superstition, but I do believe some of that stuff can invite in unwanted energies.
Is the first ep gonna be re-run sometime soon?
I have it from a reliable source that the first ep will be on again at 8:00 PM EST Thursday, right before episode 2.
