Davenport. Rock Island. Moline. And Bettendorf. The good and the bad. What to do, where to go.
Distant possibility of moving there. Curious. Tolerable for far-Left, beer drinking, bird-watching, bicycling dweeb?
I grew up near there. I know there are other Dopers that currently live there and will be able to give you a better description of the area. The way I always thought of it while I lived there was “a series of suburbs without a major city”. While there are some “downtown” areas in Moline, Rock Island, and Davenport, they’re relatively small compared to what I would have expected of an area with that kind of population.
Black Hawk State Park is pretty nice to go to, particularly for bird watching type activities.
But all in all, I haven’t lived there in nearly a decade so others will likely be able to give you more accurate advice.
Ok. . . bump? Any more takers?
Thanks, interface2x.
I live about an hour away from the Quad Cities. My impression? Meh. Not very attractive, one of the cities is kinda smelly. Moline’s airport is ok. Also–the Quad Cities are better than Clinton. If you want to live in a nice river town in Iowa, well, I could point you in a good direction.
