Long story short…I’d like to have sex without worrying about interruptions. With three kids (8, 5, 1) its been awhile since those conditions prevailed.
Is it incredibly embarrassing to rent a hotel room and then check out again 2 hours later?

Many hotels have automatic check outs. You don’t necessarily have to see the clerk again. Also, I’m will to bet hotel personnel have seen just about everything. They won’t bat an eyelash.
Been there and done that. Never laid eyes on the desk peeps.
that’s how I read it the first time
Well, we used to have the “No-Tell Motel” and “Friends and Lovers” that both advertised hourly rates.
Ick
Years ago my wife worked for a while as a desk clerk at a low rent national chain. She often got asked about hourly rates (not that motel) and frequently sold a room more than once.
However, do you have friends who would trade sleepovers? Much more restful.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to hire a babysitter to take the kids out of the house for a couple of hours?
There are motels that offer “siesta rates” for brief stayovers. Long, long ago when I was single, I used to visit such a place with one of my boyfriends. This motel charged half its normal room rate for a “siesta” visit of four hours or less. It wasn’t a sleazy-looking dump, but it certainly wasn’t a luxury accommodation. At least the sheets and towels were clean.
Ah, but what if the spouse comes home???
Seriously, your kids have got to have schoolmates, and those schoolmates have got to have parents. Arrange an evening child swap, you drop your kids at their house one night, they drop their kids at your house one night. In a lot of ways it’s easier to take care of more kids because they play with each other. You get an evening–not out, but AT HOME.
You seriously want to go there right now?
I don’t think you need to worry about the motel staff. I don’t think the average person can come up with ANYTHING that would make them blink an eye without trying really hard.
If you’re going to rent a room anyway, why not get someone to sit with the kids overnight and give yourselves a nice mini-vacation?
I’ve worked in a motel – the staff doesn’t care. I’ve rented a motel room for an afternoon – the staff doesn’t care.
Our only babysitter right now is only 15 yrs. old and doesn’t drive. Taking all three of them anywhere (remember one of them is only one) overwhelms even my husband. I kind of consider my own ability to do so a superpower and even I encounter disaster occasionally. I’m not sure I would get the relaxation I’m so desperately seeking if the kids were out of the house.
I can’t imagine who I could possibly ask to watch them overnight. That really seems like a huge favor to ask and I don’t really want to do it for anybody else.
I really just want about 6 hours in the middle of the day, some of it at a hotel.
All that said, I could certainly stand to increase my list of babysitters. How you doing Fretful Porpetine ?
I don’t know if you can find a by-the-hour hotel/motel but I’m sure you could find one which isn’t terribly expensive.
I stayed at a nice motel in my area this past weekend. The room was only $50 and I found out after I checked out that I could have had an AAA discount. The only thing that came up for me was the local resident deposit. They are concerned about locals getting a room for a party (post-prom shit etc.) so they charged a $100 deposit which I got back.
A few years ago, I worked as a security guard for a hotel in Hartford. I used to hang out near the desk when I wasn’t doing my rounds. I occasionally answered the phones when guests called the desk, and I frequently made deliveries to rooms. I have delivered condoms (I forgot mine and my husband works in the area, I don’t want him to see me buying some), toothbrushes and toothpaste (because my boyfriend came in my mouth) and new sheets (because my period started). I have found people having sex in the stairwells. I once found a man jerking off near the roof door. I was working the night that the front desk staff helped to capture the man with the outstanding warrants in 6 states.
I only worked there for 1 month before I got moved to a new client.
Nothing you do will shock anyone who has ever worked in even the most ritzy hotel. They don’t care. Unless you do something really strange (like tell them your husband came in your mouth) they probably wont even bat an eye. IF you do something really strange, they might giggle behind your back but most likely they will be very professional to you.
On a side note: why the hell do people feel the need to announce the reason why they want something delivered to their room? Why can’t they just say they forgot their toothpaste?
If the motel doesn’t have the auto check out on the tv, just drop the key in the box at the front desk or leave it in the room. The staff at the motel really does not care, unless you’re at the only motel for miles around in your tiny hometown and they call your mother.
Not that it ever happened to me.
I’m just saying.
Good Lord, don’t mention that here.
Man, the US needs love hotels. The ones here are pretty well maintained and are a lot bigger and more comfy than most of the regular hotels I’ve stayed in. We’re in a three-generation household, so occasionally the wife and I like to go out for ‘dinner and a movie’ while her mother watches the kid.
Depending on where you live, hotels/motels aren’t all that expensive to just rent for the night even if you stay a few hours.
Most hotels have what they call day rates when you only want the room for a couple hours. I would check into this and save yourself some money.
It is not unusual for people who travel by car for business using a hotel for a couple hours to change clothes or whatever
If you aint too picky about where the hotel is and you know what “star level” hotel you want, I would try Priceline. I’ve gotten some amazing deals on that site. You prepay online, all you have to do is pick up the key when you get there.
