Tell me about The Newsroom, eh

Canadian Dopers, tell me about The Newsroom.

This is one of my favorite shows. It aired on public TV in Chicago a few years ago, which I watched and also bought the season on video. Ken Finkleman is absolutely great as George Findlay, and I’m amazed that he can be such a great character AND be the writer/director/producer.

Our PBS station has started showing it again, but I’m not sure where exactly we are. The Newsroom Website talks about Season 3, but those aren’t the episodes I’m seeing. Maybe we’re in Season 2? The first episode I saw was Jim getting a job on a morning TV show in New York, and of course getting booted off (something about a 16 year old black prostitute….)

According toTV Tome, the ones that I’ve been seeing the last few weeks are Season 3. The first episode, about Jim in America is called, oddly enough, “America, America”.

The latest one I saw, “One of Us”, was brilliant. The sequence at the end, with all the people in George’s office telling more and more absurd stories about the Temp From Hell, left me with my mouth hanging open. The bus driver was just icing on the cake.
