I am a bad, bad driver. Or at least I was when a traffic cam caught me turning right on red without stopping. Apparently you can do it online now, which I assume is the way to go? How long does it take, and any recommendations for the fastest and cheapest options?
I went to traffic school once, and my “school” was court-appointed. Depending on the severity of the offense, the “students” were mandated to be there for either 4 or 8 hours. I was in for reckless driving, and did a 4 hour stint. It pretty much involved watching some videos about what happens when you drive like an ass, and reviewing driver’s-handbook-type things. They apparently do things a little bit differently in your realm (I never had to go traffic school shopping), but I would imagine that the actual school experience is about the same everywhere. Booooooooring.
when I did it about 10 years ago, and I learned that dangerous criminals have to pay their debt to society…
If you break the law by raping somebody, they make you sit in jail for 40 years. If you break the law by stealing, they make you sit in jail for a year.
And if you break the law by rolling through a stop sign twice in one year, they make you sit in boring lectures for 8 hours.
Bring a bunch of M&M’s to sweeten the time.
—and be careful not to drop your soap in the showers
I did it online a few months ago. If you look on the website for the Court, you should be able to find a list of acceptable traffic schools. I used safe2drive.com. If you actually sat and read every thing in agonizing detail it might take 8 hours. That said, I didn’t feel the need to read everything in detail: the test part was simple stupid. I think it cost around $30, not including the extra fee you have to pay to the court to use traffic school. The school faxed in my certification for me.
ETA I’m in Los Angeles county.
