I know he died. What else do I need to know to get some kind of understanding of the man whose memory never seems to be far from the hearts and minds of The SDMB.
I have heard a great deal about him on this board, but since I didn’t join until August, 2000, I never interacted with him or really read anything he posted.
I’ve seen enough of his sig lines to know that he was witty.
I hear enough of the heartache in your voices to know that he is missed.
I know that he was loved.
What have I missed?
Please share any favorite memories of him. Good and bad.
I hate to bring up memories, but it was actually his passing on that brought me here. It was so touching and you seemed to love him so much, I knew you guys were great.
Waly was funny, wiity, ascerbic. Generous, even to a newbie.
He was one of the first people to post in my introduction thread. He had a way of having things go wrong, very, very wrong. And then telling us all about how foolish he looked.
Be sure to read some of his pit posts… a true master!
Wally was funny of course… had wonderful stories to tell. He was a fighter of trolls and of things that spoil a good message board… to the ignorant he always gave a good :wally He was the “creator” of “PUTZ!” and most people adopted it. He was kind of a father figure and usually a comic relief… one of those people that you ALWAYS read their thread first when you log on.
I think, though I cant speak for everyone, that Wally always seemed like a family member. To me like an uncle you only see twice a year but look forward too. That kind of warm feeling.
WallyM7 made sig lines here for many people… it seems everyone pestered him for one… he would look at your profile and create one from that… kind of something personal about you. I got one… Since in my profile I mentioned my love for reptiles and snakes I got…
Sig… “I was sad because I had no shoes, 'till I met a snake with no legs.” We all know this isn’t completely original but funny anyway No?
