Tell me about your PTTD

For those of you blessed not to suffer from this, PTTD = Posterior Tibialis Tendon Dysfunction, also known as adult acquired flat foot.

So, if you have it, are you doing anything to mediate it? Is it working?

My PTTD is Stage II. It pretty much hurts anytime I’m on my feet, although it has become one of those background aches that you just get used to.

I have a 10-day hiking trip planned for May in southern Utah. Not wilderness hiking or anything. We’re talking day hikes on established trails and sleeping in hotels. But I want to make sure my PTTD does not interfere with my ability to do whatever I damn well want.

So…I am working on losing weight and I have found online a "Non-Operative Protocol for Adult Flatfoot Deformity (Great. Now I’m deformed, not just dysfunctional.) It basically consists of bracing and high repetition/low resistance strengthening exercises. (If you’re curious, it’s here.)

Tell me your success stories. Even your horror stories!

ETA: I do have custom orthotics that I wear all the time.
