Oh, and for the sixth or seventh time, let me reiterate that this is something that seemed to me to be quite a sticking point around the country back in the day when HRC was trying to go behind our backs in closed door sesssions to hammer out a health care plan to foist upon the country…but it’s something I don’t have firsthand knowledge of and I’m asking if my recollections are accurate. I believe they are, thus my OP, but I’m open to refutation–something that most around here are quite eager to do…usually, that is.
Hopefully someone with some actual knowledge about her erstwhile plan will post so that we can either vilify HRC for her desire to jail people for bucking her would-be system, or I can apologize for disseminating wrongful information and genuflect accordingly. Either way, I think it’s important to get at the facts in this regard.
And now that I’ve gone back on my word and participated muchly in this thread–and that it has degenerated largely into the clash of personalities I expected had I hung around-- I will back out now and see if anything useful transpires.
:dubious: The Clinton health care plan was very thoroughly documented at the time. The full text was published in all its eye-glazing detail, IIRC. And every aspect was threshed out in the media for months. It would have been flatly impossible to sweep any of that under the rug. You can find full-length books on how the plan was formulated, how it was proposed, how it was fought over and why Congress failed to implement it.
Starving Artist, you recall that the missing quotes were from around 16 years ago – which is before I even knew that the Clintons existed. Are you sure about the timeline? Also, were you listening to Rush Limbaugh back in those days? This seems like a Lie the Big Fat Liar would Lie about.
But let’s assume that she did say those things way back then. By your own statements, her policies back then may not be her policies now, nor in the future. So you want to vilify her for something that has become completely irrelevant? By you own standards?
Dude, you know you shouldn’t do this when I’m around!
Entering the words “Hillary Clinton” and variations on “health care” or “healthcare” or “health care plan” etc comes back with more than a million hits each!
This led me to the Wiki article on the “Clinton health care plan” which starts “In 1993”, ahhh the dark days of the 90’s before Al Gore invented the Internet!
CMC fnord! SA let me give you a gift, Google Suggest, type in “hillary clinton” then start the word “health” you get lots of variations to pick from, makes searching for things much easier.
Hey, anyone remember back about twenty years ago, when George Bush admitted that he was a practicing cannibal? I can’t find any cites for it now, but I remember it was a big deal back then. I guess we won’t know if he was actually eating people back in the '80s, unless someone who’s familiar with the story shows up to tell us what really happened.
A quick addendum: the penalties themselves, IIRC, were never made part of the final bill that went before Congress. Rather, it was said to have been part of Hillary’s desired plan and never made it into the final plan. It is not my contention that it was ever part of the final plan, rather it’s one that HRC wanted to see included in the early stages…IIRC, that is.
Not quite. What I’m saying is that you can’t believe anything she says, you have to go by what she does. In other words, she will say anything to get into power and then contrive to do what she really wants afterward.
I’m old enough to have voted for Bill in '92. I remember the debates over the health care proposal. It is simply not the case that seeing a private physician would have landed you in jail.
I’m sorry but anyone who believes that is completely insane.
Again, not quite. I didn’t just make this up out of whole cloth. Remember, the guy on the silly HRC southern/African-Amercian speech page mentioned it, too. So the idea was clearly around. I’ve long been of the opinion that it’s true and I’m inclined to villify HRC accordingly, but if someone can refute it I’m open to recantation and apology. It’s just that simple.
I believe Starving Artist is a Nazi who wants to put Jews in concentration camps. I didn’t just make that up, some other random dude on the internet mentioned it too. I’ve long been of the opinion that it’s true and I’m inclined to villify SA accordingly, but if someone can refute it I’m open to recatation and apology. It’s just that simple.
Jesus Christ, how can anyone refute someone’s absurd paranoid beliefs? It’s like refuting bigfoot. It’s not up to me to prove bigfoot doesn’t exist, it’s up to you to present a bigfoot. Note: a random internet comment isn’t proof.
You really should know better. You made the assertion, you need to supply the proof. What you’re asking is for us to prove a negative. You’ve been around here long enough that things don’t work like that.
Honestly, what sort of proof do you want? A link to a site that specifically says that Clinton did not say the things you claim? What would prove it to you?
By the same token, I’ll claim that Bush said “Mango banana Studebaker falls down slimy worm thing Montana.” I challenge you to provide proof that he never said that. One cite would convince me.
