You are totally in the wrong here. Blue cheese stuffed olives make the martini. A martini is a drink with strong flavors for cranky old men who can no longer taste as well as they used to because of a life of drinking and smoking.
Let your inner cranky old man out drink martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives. I am going to try stuffing Kalamatas this weekend and see if they are as good as the green ones.
Another idea–Greek Salad
Take some lettuce–Romaine works well–put in bowl. Add sliced red onion, tomato, black olives, feta cheese and Greek Salad Dressing. (Sorry, no recipe for the dressing. I have an herb mix from a farmer’s market which is mixed with olive oil and vinegar.)
oooooh yes. If they weren’t you might find somebody else being “pitted” in short order … I’m sitting here imagining sitting down and pitting a kilo of olives all at once (shudder)
tapenade sounds good. And contains anchovies and capers - I always like to get a good dose of ALL the things my husband hates in one recipe, it’s a very efficient way of getting my own fix . Even better if it had yoghurt too (hmmm - wonder how well they’d go together?)
And pizza! Pizza is good. We do faces, and use the olives for eyes and nose and a capsicum mouth. I might have to think of another scheme for Maximum Olive Usage though. Maybe a house made out of black bricks…
Can’t face salad this weekend though - it’s gone all cold wet and dreary. Hot comfort food for us today!
Yesterday Mr. S came home with a bunch of goodies from the cooler of our favorite cafe: horseradish cheese, lemon-pepper smoked salmon, and black bean hummus. Well that clinched it. We went to the store for some crusty bread and crackers, and I picked up a few cans of olives (already had the anchovies and capers) and made tapenade. For dinner we covered the coffee table with finger food and munched away.
