If all goes well, I’ll be leaving here and moving to Texas this weekend. Yay!!! I’m planning on spending two days with my crazy aunt in Philadelphia, and then heading out, but am looking for ideas of fun places to stop along the way. I’ve made the drive before, and have seen several caverns along the way as well as the Johnson Space Center, but now I’m in need of other diversions. Doctor’s orders are to drive no more than 300 miles a day and to stop for at least fifteen minutes of every hour. This leaves me lots and lots of time for sight-seeing. Tentatively, I’m planning to make it to Staunton, VA on day 1, Knoxville, TN on day 2, Tuscaloosa, AL on day 3, Monroe, LA on day 4, and my destination on day 5. Because I’m driving such a short distance each day, I’ll have plenty of time to stop along the way and still make it to my destination. I’m looking for things that aren’t too physically demanding (rock climbing and spelunking are out of the question but a short hike is quite all right.) Interests are numerous and my schedule is fairly flexible. Any recommendations?
I’m fond of Dallas. I often go to conventions and things in their Crystal Palace building.
Going that close to New Orleans and bypassing the Latin Quarter would be a shame.
- Take a drive into the Great Smoky mountains (Knoxville, TN)
- New Orleans, LA
- Austin, TX
Oh I’ll tell you exactly where to go!
