“Maybe even permanent…” That’s what the recruiter said!! Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh pleeeeeeease!!!
I start Monday. I’ve never been so thrilled for so little a chance.
I’ve been a year unemployed. I spent time with an outfit trying to sell life insurance on straight commission, but that was going nowhere fast so I gave it up last month. All that talk about team building, and warm markets, and all they really wanted me to do was try to recruit and sell policies to my friends and relatives. That and waste money at their pep talk seminars. I didn’t make dime one, and lost money on this and that fee. What a rip off.
But this is Accounts Payable. This is what I’ve done for thirty years. I cursed it for thirty years, but now I’m eager to get back into it.
Just a temp job. But maybe permanent. Life is good. For now. :):)
However, I should warn you that temp recruiters are up there with lawyers and telemarketers as being the sleazebags of the earth. I’ve been promised “temp-to-perm” many times, and never once did it come to fruition (in fact, the client has even told me that they never said such a thing to the agency). It sounds like other dopers have had better luck with that though.
