Lamar get a grip. You fucked up your tags. And you did edit my post, if the “cite?” was supposed to be my “cite - that the killed marines were attacking another country”. By inserting a question mark at the end which I had not, you changed the meaning and made it seem like my question ended there. No biggie. Just don’t make a habit of it.
You nominate your own post #77 as the dumbest of the year? It’s pretty dumb that’s true, but I’ve seen worse. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Ps. You still owe me that cite.
shhh* Don’t blow my cover! I’m really Rove! But don’t tell!
You will see that Lamar’s un-cited allegation was that “they were attacking another country”. “They” refer specifically to the specific killed marines, not to the United States – and even if it was referring to the US, it would still be wrong, because the US is not attacking another country. The US did attack another country some time back, but if that’s what Lamar had meant I’m sure he would have written something like: they were killed because they had attacked another country. In any case I’m sure you very well know that I wasn’t expecting cites, but making the point that calls for cite on SDMB sometimes are used in an obstructing and completely partial way, not meant to further debate – but merely as a weapon to silence people one disagrees with.
I’m glad we agree that requests for cites sometimes are a dishonest debating style.
