In Spanish orchestral music, there is that style that the string section will play that is sweeping, majestic and heroic. Often heard during movie scenes like Zorro making a dramatic rescue or some such (Or when Spanish Buzz Lightyear saves the cowgirl from being buried under garbage). Is there a term for this sound or style of play and what classical Spanish music really does it well?
It’s the pasodoble,“double step,” a fast paced military march that was later adapted for a dance of the same name. It’s used during bullfights, corridas de toros,
One of the greatest instances of this style is Arturo Sandova’s interpretation of La Virgen de la Macarena.
That’s cool, but I was thinking more of the string section than the brass.
That’s closer to what I’m thinking of. And thanks for that post. Great piece of music.
