Term for following twitter accounts to get them to follow you

I have a twitter account I’d judge to be relatively uninteresting to someone who doesn’t know me. I follow just shy of a hundred accounts, and I have about a dozen followers fewer than that again.

Some of those are accounts for organisations and people who obviously often follow you back if you follow them, but some are also accounts that I’m fairly sure have just drawn my name out of a hat and follow me in the hope I’ll follow them back and boost their numbers. Is there a term for the latter practice or “practitioner”?

I also see it on my wordpress blog, where the numbers are even smaller and the actors are even more obviously just seeking to draw traffic to themselves and not interrested in my blog at all.

Sometimes people say follow for follow, i.e. follow me and I’ll follow you back.

Yeah, but that’s a description you put in your profile to indicate you’re into that nonsense, isn’t it? This is more like trolling for followers. (In the original fishing sense, not the purposely annoying people sense.)
