Termites

I think we’ve got 'em. I’ve got an inspection scheduled by a pest control company next week. They will give us an estimate. It’s gonna be expensive, isn’t it? I mean yeah, the alternative would be even more so, but why is it that it’s usually recommended to have a professional do this? Is it really so hard to DIY?

I recently got through with dealing with all the problems you get from Pest Control. There was over $80K damage to my house. It took six months to get the companies (yae, plural) to pay for the damage. All in all, it IS too difficult tpo DIY, but be sure to get more than one inspection. My advice, if the inspections is free, then you get what you pay for. Don’t assume that a big name national company will get you good service. Do your homework (find out what termites look like, their life cycle, common evidence of infestation, and ways to deter them) before the inspector comes out. In my experience, the inspectors are generally better salesmen than biug detectors. If the termites have alreday done their damage, you won’t be able to get a company to givr you termite insurance. I went with the buried in the ground things (I don’t want to give brand names) that kill the colony. No termite problems since. IANATE.
