Terrell Davis retires.

Too many knee problems has led him to early retirement. Personally, I say he deserves to be in the HOF because he’s had the second best short career next to Gale Sayers. 2000 yard season rusher, Super Bowl MVP, 2 Super Bowl rings, and a class act.

I just heard that, too. Too bad. He was a great runner and seemed like a good guy.

I heard an interview with him last year when he was talking about how much pain he was in constantly. I guess he decided that being able to walk for the rest of his life was more important that football.

Wise choice.

As for the HOF…I dunno. He sure was good on my fantasy team a few years ago, though.

Truly a stand-up guy. I always wanted to see him back on the field. Damn shame.

He will be missed by all who are football fans in Colorado. That is for sure.

Drafting Clinton Portis is looking particularly wise right now. So is not trading Olandis Gary or Mike Anderson.

He reminds me of a Jordan with injuries. Truly a magnificent athelete and also a really good guy. You look at him and think “Wow, what could have been sans the knee problems.”

HOF? Potential is hard to quantify and his healthy career was unfortunately too short.

Makes you realize how hard these guys get pounded. He was in league what only 7 or 8 years?

And at least two of those were spent on the sideline, collectively.

I met him a couple times, and he was class.

2000 yards in one season should put ANYONE in the HOF. How many guys have done that? OJ, Eric Dickerson, and him? Maybe one more I’m not thinking of? Payton (RIP) never did it. 2000 yards in a season is 167 yards per game, assuming he plays every game. That kind of astonishing, sustained effort is worth the HOF, in my book.

Then again, am I mistaken, or did O.J. rush 2000 yards in a 12-game season? If he did, they can lock the doors to the HOF now, because no one will ever duplicate that.

OJ did it in 14 games. Sanders is the other to do the 2000+ yards in a season you forgot to mention.

Terrell Davis was a flash in the pan who was a product of a system, not talent. No hall of fame for you.
