Does Russia have terrorist attacks? Does Al Queada hate Russia too?
Muslim separatists in Cechnya have been responsible for a number of terrorist attacks, but I don’t know if they have officially aligned themselves with Al Qaeda.
The most recent (and world-famous) attack was the Beslan school attack which resulted in many dead children.
Russia has Chechyans.(sp?)
I can probably dig up some kind of terrorist attacks in every country but Sweden and Iceland.
Currently South America is remarkably devoid of Terrorists, but high in Organized Crime. Its a fine line separating them, I know.
There are allegations of connections between Al Qaeda and Chechen terrorists.
Can can read year-by-year accounts of terrorism in Russia by looking up the annual reports here.
In Russia, babby forms YOU!
They have had quite a lot of terrorist attacks. The most well known is the already mentioned Beslan school siege, where almost 400 died, back in 2004. Then in there was the Nord-ost theater hostage crisis in 2002, where dozens of terrorists held 850 people hostage in a theater, and over a hundred hostages died. Going back some more, they had some apartment bombings in 1999 there were apartment bombings in a few cities, killing a few hundred people.
Those are the largest events that come to mind, but in the news there are smaller attacks pretty much weekly in the Caucasus republics, like Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan.
Here are some recent events from 2009:
Car bomb in Dagestan, 3 injured police
Bombing in Chechnya, 1 dead, 12 wounded
3 police, 1 civilian killed in militant attacks
FSB officer killed by car bomb in Ingushetia
Prevented gas pipeline bombing in Dagestan
IED kills 1 soldier, injures 2 in Chechnya
Dagestan interior minister shot dead
5 dead in Chechnya bombing
5 dead in mortar attack on police convoy in Chechnya
Another 5 police killed by bomb in Chechnya
There are dozens of similar attacks only in 2009.
