Because of my/our frustrations seeking funds for research and a cure, I decided to google “famous people with Alzheimer’s” and his name came up.

I absolutely love the Discworld series, and being a (amateur) writer myself, I was curious to see how Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease had affected him, so I followed the link and watched his 2 part speech at the end of which he gave a million dollars to the Alzheimer’s Association.

It’s on my blog, and apparently it’s going to be the private sector which will have to “step up and bat”, because there’s just not going to be any funding to help AD research.

Hell, we don’t even have a telethon! :mad:

It’s definitely a good thing that he went public with his illness. I know there are a lot of people who love his work so hopefully that will help people become more aware that Alzheimer’s disease can strike younger than many people realize.

There was a BBC program recently about how he’s dealing with having the illness. If you can find it, I would really recommend watching it. It’s heartbreaking but uplifting at the same time.
