Tesla Cybertruck

Similarly, when offices went from CRTs to flat panels, heating bills went up because they lost all of that waste heat.

Saw one of those parked at Town Hall a couple weeks ago. My first thought was “origami”.

Another heater/defroster fail on s Cuberyruck, this time on the 401 between Montreal and Toronto.

The failure resulted in reduced visibility for the driver, which is a definite road hazard.

(On the other hand, the article headline says the driver had to put on an « insulated cost » to keep from freezing. Yeah, it’s called a down jacket. )

Motor Trend has a mini-review for their Truck of the Year award:

They seem to… basically like it. We’ll see if it wins Truck of the Year! But it actually seems well-suited to their criteria, which includes for instance “Advancement in Design”, of which they say “A good exterior design should tell you what a car is, what it’s about, and who makes it, without having to rely on badging or grilles to do so.” Uh yeah, the Cybertruck wins that component hands-down. Does pretty well on the other aspects too, despite some literal and metaphorical rough edges.

and - surely - A/C bills went down?

Another dissatisfied Cybertruck owner in Canada; says that the combination of recessed headlights and the bar light on the hood made driving in heavy wet snowfall dangerous.

The video looks like the frunk was full of fireworks.

The explosion seems to have originated in the aft bed. And it was an explosion, not a battery fire. Seems like fireworks were used as accelerants.

Very pretty. Presumably after the fireworks had been expended the damaged battery then burned in the usual way keeping the FD busy for awhile.

TMZ needs to hire proofreaders.

1:08 PM PT – Authorities are now saying the FBI is investigating the explosion as a possible terrorist act. There was a massive amount of fireworks-style mortal inside the Tesla.

Everything I’m seeing says the driver was in the vehicle and died. So unless it was suicide, the fireworks weren’t there to accelerate the explosion.

Unless it was murder, I guess (and the driver didn’t know the fireworks were there).

I hope they can figure out what initiated this. Do fireworks often spontaneously combust?

Anyway—and will all due respect to the family and friends of the deceased----what a HELL of a metaphor.

On the one hand, if you decide to go out with a bang, that photo above is one hell of an artistic statement.

On the other hand, a Maga renting a CT and a room at Trump tower for a NYE blowout with substandard fireworks that accidently go off seems… on brand.

A true dumpster fire.

First day, and we already have a Photo of the Year winner!

So much for the shatter-proof windows…

What is a frunk?

Front tRUNK

Thank you.

FYI we now have a breaking news thread for this CT explosion / fire in Vegas:

Might be better to take further discussion of this event there.

Once? In my misspent Minnesota youth, reaching out the window to lift up and drop a running wiper to get ice/slush build up off it was almost a part of the driver’s license road test.

Huh, I’ve mostly found windshield wipers work during snowstorms. That was an unusually heavy sticky slush coming down, and maybe i shouldn’t have been in the road.
