Test regarding brackets and previews.

[Test.

Now, on other boards I go to that are the same version as this, if you hold your mousey over the thread, it doesn’t give you that preview of lines so you can read the thread without opening it up.

I think it’s probably because the boards thinks it’s coding of some sort, however it may work on here.

I was curious to test this out because of this thread.]

I see that it did work, other than my link to the thread which included another beginning bracket.
One think that people do ALL THE TIME on the other boards I go to (after they discovered that brackets make one have to actually open the damn topic), is put almost everything in brackets so that the person who is browsing the boards, like I said, has to open it up. Sometimes they’ll even play with it a bit, like putting only certain words in brackets so that it reads something like “Yes, I’m very gay!” when you “preview” it…but if you open it up it really says “Yes, I’m [hungry;] very [very hungry, In fact, I’m having a craving for mashed potatoes and] g[r]a[v]y!”

Anyway, just testing and enlightening to anyone who may not have known.

On a more constructive note, it also occurs to me that this could be very useful when an OP contains spoilers for something-or-other.

Unfortunately, that function omits text from the tags themselves, not what’s in between them. So something like <b>whatever</b> (with instead of <>) won’t just show up as “<b>whatever</b>” in the preview text, but just “whatever”.

Text contained in spoiler (or any other) tags is still displayed, just the tag itself is left out. There’s a way to set it up so spoiler tags are omitted from preview text and subscription emails, but I think it’s pretty complicated.
