Eh, it’s self-selecting. Note all the jokes about no one from Idaho taking part in the online test and note that Mississippi ranked as second or third highest average score of all of the states which doesn’t jibe with, well, anything. (No offense to Mississippi, I’m a native of the state, just recognizing the reality that Mississippi schools routinely rank 48-50 in terms of academic acheivement, so a ranking that’s entirely the inverse on an IQ test seems suspect, at best.) All that to say that I don’t think that Fox’s percentiles really mean all that much.
58/60 = 134 IQ
I have an issue with one of the proverbs though. Wouldn’t “Many hands make light work” imply that a job is made easier with multiple participants? I thought so anyway and picked “Two heads are better than one” rather than “Too many cooks spoil the broth”.
They were asking for the opposite, not an analogue, on that question.
Okay, I seem to be the only person here who’s merely “above average” and not a genius. My score was only 119. However, I thought that was pretty good considering I had a 10-minute phone conversation with my sister-in-law about my mother-in-law’s pneumonia during the math section (which is my worst subject). Meh. Let’s just face it. I’m no genius!
Fell asleep halfway thru the show. Which group proved to be the smarter one?
Teachers beat students by one point. The single smartest audience member was a doctor (136). The smartest celebrity was that Willard guy.
I got a score of 130, my dad got a score of 138, and my mom 126.
And to think that all during the show I thought Ben Stein’s whining about the hard questions was just his way of being humble. Turns out it was real whining.
Ben Stein is so formidible an opponent on Win Ben Stein’s Money because the majority of questions focus on knowledge in areas in which he is an expert: American and Western history, Western culture and Western pop culture. Such questions measure previously aquired knowledge. IQ tests measure certain kinds of cognitive skills rather than knowledge.
Hmmmph! I’ve done the test at iqtest.com but have yet to recieve my email score.
Oops. Just got them. 149! Woohoo!
149? That’s it??? I scored a 178 on that test. Unless you score at least a 150 on the iqtest.com test they put you in remedial shop classes. It’s all a trick.
