Well, that’s one reason (and a good one, actually) but not the only reason. Also the board would look pretty bad if every other title was in* italics*, bolded, in a different color, in a different font, underlined, [del]struckthrough[/del], etc.
Well, maybe not underlined, since they’re already underlined, but hopefully you get the point. It would make the forums look worse than a late lamented geocities page.
True, but then, you can do all of those things in threads, too, and yet most of us here are mature enough not to abuse them. I don’t see any reason to think that coding in titles would get any more out of hand than in threads.
The mods can always spank people who do abuse it. Still, I was just curious, due to something someone posted in another ATMB thread. I don’t think it’s important or useful enough to bother implementing. I won’t be whining for TPTB to make it possible, anytime soon. 
I was speaking more of why its not done with vBulletin or message boards in general than the Dope specifically, I agree, here it would be less likely to be horrifically abused.
