Test your 80s knowledge

Well dayum, Askia. My questions were kindegarten compared to yours!

B.

Not sure…A?

  1. According to song, where’s the Bristol Hotel? *

a) Queens
b) Brooklyn
c) Bronx
d) Manhattan

Uh…B?

(I have no idea who the rapper is)

Roxanne Shante?

I have no idea and it’s killing me!

Another stumper.

Ah! You killin’ me!

“…I have to wonder how I keep from going under! He he he he.” Is the title “Don’t Push Me 'Cuz I’m Close to the Edge”?

  1. The classic four cornerstones of hip-hop culture are MC-ing, DJ-ing and what other two elements…?
    a) basketball and big bodacious booties
    b) graffitti and breakdancing
    c) basketball and graffiti
    d) turntabling and rapping

<raising hand wildly>D!!!

Is it…George Clinton?

Ola Ray. Unfortunately, she turned into a crack head shortly after “Thriller”.

Queen Latifah=Dana
Roxanne Shante=Lolita?

Don’t know the others. Guess I ain’t Grandmaster :frowning:

71 out of 100. I cleaned up on Music and Movies, but sucked hard at the Television questions. I was just never that into cartoons!

I challenge this quiz though - isn’t it now thought that “Turning Japanese” wasn’t about masturbation (I got it right anyway, but…still).

I scored the same. The only category I aced was Potpourri (is that what it was called? The miscellaneous category…)

I really sucked at the TV and music parts.

Admittedly this was my intention.

You wanna know how you did? You sure? You sure you’re sure?

Okaaaaaaay. (Steps a safe distance away from pummelling)

You got three correct and your partial answers for #12 are right on the money.
(I forgot Latifah named her new album with her real name. :smack: )

I’ll amend the quiz by adding that knowing something about LL Cool J’s early discography is a big clue for two of the questions.

Also: #5 is barely sporting of me. I’m being a dick, cause team player I ain’t. (<— Four important clues in that sentence!!)

Oh, yeah – turntabling is the same as DJ-ing and MC-ing is rapping. Mwah ha ha ha ha. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, I’m a pasty white guy and I know this one.

L.L.Cool J
from the Track, Bristol Hotel.
“She’s at the Bristooooooool Hotel,
where dat at?
Jamaica Queens!!”
From Bigger and Deffer. I got the tape. Ha!

This is the other Cool J Q but I don’t know the answer.

#5 better not be the Chicago Bears Super Bowl Shuffle. I’ll kill ya.

I am impressed.
Fairness forces me to admit that the other clue has something to do with LL, but it is not one of his songs.

(On preview) So kill me. It is indeed “The Superbowl Shuffle!!” Get my clues? SPORTING, eh? “Dick 'Cause Team?” = Dikta’s team? Mwuh ha ha ha!

I know LL and Kool Moe Dee had something going. LL struck first and KMD probably came back with something appropriate in one of his songs but I never owned a KMD album, so I would have to Google this and I won’t for sake of fairness (if it’s even out there). I would guess it came out of KMD’s mouth, but I have no idea where.
Can you tell I was a huge Cool J fan?

You are good… veeerrrry good. Keep this up and I’ll have you school monstro.

(Will undoubtedly regret this but posts it anyway because he’s imagining monstro’s jaw dropping when she reads it. Mwah ha ha ha!)

I got 29 out of 44 on the TV section.

I got 12 out of 15 on the Music section.

I got 6 out of 7 in Potpourri.

And I got 16 out of 34 in movies.

for a total of 63 points.

There was no gray area. Either I knew the answer to the question or I had no clue what they were talking about. I guess it could pretty clearly define what my interests were in the 80s.

You liked potpourri too, huh? My mom was addicted to the stuff.

Werd.

Unfortunately, on Askia’s quiz, I only knew #1 and #11. Can I get extra points for watching Flavor of Love on VH1? Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah boooooooooy!!!
