Which Java VM are you using? Microsoft’s or Sun’s? And which version?
Microsoft. I re-installed the free version at, um, I forget. I think it was at the MAC site (but it was for Windows-- I’m stupid, but I can read. A little).
Microsoft no longer offers or supports their Java VM, due to legal restrictions. You might try the Sun Microsystems latest version. It doesn’t work as well as the MS version with IE, IMO, but if it works for you, it’s better than nothing.
Your line speed is:
1551.3 Kbps
190.1 K bytes/sec
Adelphia cable.
Presumably your connection is also via the VPN. Maybe there’s a smaller pipe to it from Leinster House or more users or some such.
1074.8 Kbps
131.7 K bytes/sec
Comcast cable, small town in New Jersey.
Mine are almost the same as NinjaChick’s, on a IE6, Win98 machine with Verizon DSL:
511.9 kbps
62.7 KB/s
while dslreports.com was reporting 535 kbps, or 65.3 KB/s.
Didn’t think the connection was that slow in comparison to everyone else…
