I_L_1 “Everything I needed to know about Bill Cosby, I learned from John Cusack”

I_L_2 “Everythng I needed to know about Beluga Caviar, I learned from Hugh Grant”

Z_1 “Everything I needed to know about playing a sax, I learned from Robin Williams.”

Z_2 “Everything I needed to know about playing a banjo, I learned from Paul Newman.”

Z_3 “Everything I needed to know about playing a trumpet, I learned from Richard Gere.” (at least TWO movies – name 2)

Z_4 “Everything I needed to know about playing a guitar, I learned from Gary Busey.”

Z_3 - one of the movies is The Cotton Club but I don’t know the other one maybe An Officer and a Gentleman?

Z_4 - The Buddy Holley Story
S_1 Everything I needed to know about snakes I learned from Henry Fonda

S_2 Everything I needed to know about the Walls of Jericho I learned from Claudette Colbert

Z_4 is correct, Southpaw,
Z_3 Cotton Club is right and I can’t be sure enough about Officer to say it’s not, but I’m thinking of yet another one.

S_2 It Happened One Night

S_1 Could this be The Lady Eve?

GorillaGirl joined the game last night and wrapped up my tests.
HB_1 “Everything I needed to know about ABBA, I learned from Toni Collette”

HB_1 Muriel’s Wedding

That was quick, Zeldar.

HB_2 “Everything I needed to know about breaking rules and tradition, I learned from Paul Mercurio.”

HB_2 Strictly Ballroom?

Oh, you’re good at this game.

Well, that’s because:

  1. I have seen a few movies
  2. There’s this wonderful feature of IMDB called “by keyword”
  3. Most of the clues so far coincide with (1) and (2)

But there have been some movies that I haven’t seen and where IMDB is no help (notice I haven’t taken any shots at Ilsa’s clues in this thread). Those I just hope somebody else will get or they’ll get buried in the chaos.

I’ve been tempted (but not enough to do anything about it) to go back through all these threads and pick out the ones that have not been guessed correctly, or if guessed correctly not confirmed by the one posting the clues.

I love this game!

Z_2: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?
SA_1: Everything I know about railroad tracks I learned from Vin Diesel.

SA_2: Everything I know about bull whips I learned from Marcello Mastroianni.

SA_3: Everything I know about tattoos I learned from Michael J. Pollard.

SA_4: Everything I know about chicken salad sandwiches I learned from Lorna Thayer.

You use IMDB to get the answers? What’s the fun of that?

Z-2 is Cool Hand Luke.

Z_2 is correct.

I just use IMDB after others have had a chance to answer from memory. My immediate replies are memory-based. But if a clue has sat there for some period of time with no guesses, I’ll do some IMDB tracking on it just to help “clear the books” so whoever posted it can come up with new clues if he/she chooses.

If it’s decided that IMDB is not an option, I can play that way. But since it’s going to be a tough rule to enforce (Honor System?) I don’t see the point.

Who all is for banning use of IMDB in this game?

Z_2 has been correctly guessed as Cool Hand Luke.

I don’t use imdb for answer, on principle. It takes the challenge out of the game for me. I will use it, however, for help in formulating my own questions, for instance to double check the spelling of someone’s name.

Now, back to the game:

HB_3 “Everything I needed to know about butter in Hell, I learned from Sir Ian McKellen.”

I’ll try it your way, then. No guess on your clue.

SA_4: Everything I know about chicken salad sandwiches I learned from Lorna Thayer.

“Five Easy Pieces”?

FWIW, I haven’t been using IMDB, either, for the same reasons as Homebrew puts forth. If the others want to use it, though, that’s fine with me.

Right. Much like cocaine and pot, I’m not saying we should BAN it; but I don’t use it myself.

That is correct!

Incidentally, I intentionally skewed my actors a little hard, thinking people would be using IMBD.
Here’s another one:

SA_5: Everything I know about preparing spaghetti I learned from Jack Lemmon.
