You’re not crazy. The software parses your post and reduces adjacent spaces to a single instance. I was always taught that two spaces were to follow periods and colons; one space should follow commas and semi-colons. In fact, I still type this way. Apparently however, that convention is out-dated.
After training myself to do it, I have no desire to untrain myself. I just happened to notice it when posting something earlier. Now it will drive me nuts.
