When changing Whatsit Jr.'s diaper, I notice that sometimes his testicles are larger than at other times. Does anyone know why this is? MrWhatsit reports that his vary in size from time to time too, but that he “hasn’t paid enough attention to figure out why.” What’s going on here?
(Note: This is NOT a request for medical advice. I am perfectly aware that this is normal and there is nothing wrong with Whatsit Jr. I just wonder what causes the size variations.)
Auto temperature regulation. Same thing that causes Mr. Happy to change sizes (absent of stimulation). Sperm need a temperature slightly lower than 98.6 degrees (F) to thrive. So if it’s warmer outside, they hang lower, if it’s colder, they tuck into the pelvis a bit more. I don’t know how it all works, nor do I know what happens if the air temperature is above 98.6, things would seem to work in reverse then.
I guess I assumed you were actually asking about scrotum size. if the actual testicles themselves are changing size, then I have no idea, and I don’t think mine do. But I will, in the interest of science, chart it hourly in Excel. or not.
I think the testes remain the same size unless there is something bad happening (like a tumor or your taking a lot of steroids). That is once you’re fully grown.
At least mine do. Testicles don’t expand much at all which is one reason why it hurts a lot to get hit down there. There is no place for the blood to expand in to.

ski was right, I was actually asking about scrotum size. Now that I have an infant son to take care of, I suppose I should start getting my anatomical terminology right…
