Testing Alt-numeric combinations.. don't mind me

I’m just testing these out coz I still want to find that maddeningly elusive “Þ” character! (if I can, of course… I don’t have Character Map on this computer, and not sure that would help anyways)

After that, it all seems to start over again… not that I’m going to test it too see if it is just repeats ad nauseam!

F_X

:smack:

Of course, I meant “to see,” NOT “too see” in my last post.

F_X

Oh, and take out the “is” in the last phrase there. Not sure what I was thinking of.

F_X

Q.E.D. darling. Did you by chance happen to actually read my OP, in which I stated quite clearly that:

??

Cheh!

F_X

Of course not. My eyes glazed over after seeing all those Alt+codes. Although if you want it, you can download it here. It’s the Win 95 version but should run on any later Windows too.

How did you find “Þ” when you typed in the beginning of your OP, if you didn’t already know?

Copy and paste.

Well, that part was at the BEGINNING of the post, before “all those Alt-codes”… so maybe you could have read that at first. But if not… never mind.

Thanks for the link, though.

F_X

Q.E.D. might think he knows the answer… when that’s only one small part of it. I’ll give you the full story:

Yes, I used copy and paste… from another thread on this forum. (which was was started BEFORE this one) So that was quite handy

No, I did NOT go through all the testing first, and THEN paste the character in. That’s not my style.

F_X

If I said That’s just exactly what I was thinking would you believe me?

I don’t know… what kind of proof would I have of that??

F_X

Of course, the answer was also [in the FAQ](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?postid=1956119 #post1956119) (follow the link in the “Special Characters” section).

Could be the case, but I didn’t think of looking in there for it. Besides, the number combinations there might have been different to my computer system.

(“different to” = “different than” … not exactly bad grammar… just an Australianism that I temporarily picked up from Spoz :D)

F_X

The alt+number sequences for generating special characters would be the same for any computer running a version of Windows.

Well, Spoz gets different characters than I do. I see no reason to disbelieve him when he says that. (after all, he’s the only one I trust with checking my blog for wierd glitches)

F_X

Thanks :Þ

No problem!
