Ok here is the story.
Last year my wife and I were doing a little road trip to Texas. We were in the process of designing our new house so we were looking at a few unique houses to gain some architectural inspiration.
One of the houses we looked at was the house from the movie Hope Floats; it is located in Smithville Texas.
As we were leaving Smithville we decided to go a little further south and as we drove down the interstate I saw the coolest thing ever! A herd of 6 foot tall concrete rabbits!! It was some huge statuary store right off the freeway.
The problem is I can’t remember the name or location, All I know is I think it is south of Smithville off of a large highway. My google fu has been weak so no luck on the internet.
Please Texas Dopers, Help! My new home is 30 days away from completion and I need 2 huge rabbits to guard the front! Come on every McMansion has a lion or such out front. I need two huge freaking bunnies!
Thanks for any help
I don’t know about huge bunnies, but in the tradition of huge Texan concrete things, I can find you some three-metre busts of US presidents in Houston. How’d you like to have Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan guarding your door? Or even better, one of the 19th-century guys with great facial hair…
Don’t know about the place in Texas, but there is a place in Leesburg, Florida that sells them. They have life-sized concrete horses, also.
My Google Fu isn’t working either.
Suggestion: ask the Smithville Chamber of Commerce. They’ll know.

Good luck.
Well, way south in Odem in Double D Statuary. That’s pretty far south tho’. If you accidentally went north, there’s a place between Temple and Wacoon IH35 that’s got a great selection. I don’t remember rabbits the last time I was by tho’, mostly hippos and dinosaurs.
Double D’s the bigget concrete statue manufacturer in Texas so you probably saw one of their outlets or stores carrying their stuff. Here’s a map of the locations. Hey, I just noticed they have an outlet in Seguin. That sounds like it might have been it.
