Texas gun group "simulates" Paris attack... result? Really hard to kill gunmen even if armed.

When exactly did we start considering the average citizen incompetent to own or carry firearms? It wasn’t always that way; people weren’t crying for handguns to be banned decades ago- what changed?

What are you talking about? Support for handgun bans has been dropping for 60 years, with an outright ban on handguns having once enjoyed majority support. The Chicago handgun ban was enacted decades ago in the 1980s.

I’d say one factor has been the in your face paranoia of the pro-gun lobby. “Obama is coming for your guns!” does not paint the pro-gun faction as a demographic with a firm grip on reality. The NRA sounds shrill and unhinged, conjuring dire threats everyman must arm himself to confront on a daily basis. It doesn’t paint a picture many people correlate with responsible gun ownership.

Says the guy who calls the cops every time he sees a non-uniformed person carrying a gun.

What’s your pont?

Amusing username/post combo there.

Yet I am unafraid to go out in public unarmed. Funny, that.

So what? You say that like it is important.

It’s not important. But it is funny.

I like to laugh. Why is it funny?

If you have to have humor explained to you, I’m betting it doesn’t happen very often.

For some reason I am now picturing **Scumpup **starring in a old timey WW2 movie. “Vhy ist this funny ? VHY ? Tell us ze secret of zis… “humour” of yours. Vee haff ways of making you talk, Amerikaner.”

Humor - it is a difficult concept.

Maybe the problem is that I was giving you too much credit for wit and subtlety. Yes, there is a little very mild humor in that your name is “fear itself” and that you claim to be unafraid of something. If that is all you are talking about, I guess you are just much more easily amused than I am.

except that according to his own words, he is afraid of stuff - specifically, anyone carrying a gun.

So while he is ‘un afraid’ to go outside - he is afraid of everything (potentially) while outside.

I’d call it more ironic than humor.

And CCW holders are afraid of everyone. At any time, a bad guy with a gun might jump out at them, so they have to be ready to do battle.

No, that isn’t true, no matter how often you want to claim it. If all you have is repetition, then you have run out of things to say. you aren’t even repeating a thought that was original to you in the first place. Funny that.

If there is another reason for carrying a gun besides confronting a bad guy, I’d like to hear it.

Guns are also used for target practice, and you never know where and/or when a target will suddenly pop up.

Not true at all.
